Biographie

I am a 19 year old speaker/musician currently studying sociology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. I am a former Peel Board student, having finished my diploma at Cawthra Park Secondary School in 2013. I am a spoken word poet, hip hop artist and motivational speaker.

I am one of Canada's Top 20 Under 20, and have been featured in multiple media outlets including The Toronto Star, CBC, RogersTV, and Education Canada.

You can also find my music video that I created in our community to tackle bullying. The song "King of The Castle" has had a large community reach and has also been broadcast on national television. This video was shot at Cawthra Park School and features former Peel students.

Histoire

My story is about going from an at-risk student to one who is university bound. It's about cultural differences between my Western upbringing and my deeply-rooted Pakistani parents.

I use hip hop and spoken word as outlets to inspire other youth in our community to make positive life choices and create impactful change.

To better understand my personal story, view the video in my profile for a spoken word poem that walks the listener through my experiences as a youth. For more information on my work and past engagements, you can visit my website: www.walifloshah.com
