READ THE ARTICLE IN THE VANCOUVER SUN ABOUT EMILY LIEUWEN’S WINNING ESSAY

Emily Lieuwen is a Grade 12 student from Delta Secondary School in BC. Her essay, Letters from Then and Now: Changing Multiculturalism, reflects on what it would have been like to be one of the Indian passengers aboard the Komagata Maru denied entry to Canada in 1914.

Her essay won the Passages Canada Write and Make Art! Challenge, a national competition put on by Historica Canada.
